Kearns Family Day in the Life Session | Dallas, TX

One of my favorite things about Mackenzie is how she laughs at her children – not in a horrible way, but in a “welp, I did what I could and now look at what they’re doing” kind of way. We should all do a little more of that as mothers. She and I have sons that are similar in age and I’ve been photographing their family since he was 1! So, I jumped at the opportunity to serve them with a Day in the Life video session, especially since they’ve added a sweet little girl to their family since we moved away from Dallas a few years ago.

You’ll see (and hear) in the video within the first couple of seconds she’s already laughing at her kids b/c they’re SO ready to be photographed lol. It’s always fun when kids WANT to be in front of the camera!

We spent some time playing on the backyard playground and Ninja Warrior set up. Mary Grace is so sweet and loves all things girly, but she can play just as hard as her big brother, Henry. After some good time outside in the crisp Dallas October air (I came in with a “cold front” so it was very pleasant outside after what seemed like an unending hot Summer for Dallas), we headed inside to play in Mary Grace’s room (Henry’s old room that I photographed him in). They danced to Taylor Swift, made a “fake” smoothie with Mom & Dad, and had a tea party. Then, we baked some of the tastiest chocolate chip cookies (EVER) before heading to the neighborhood park. We snapped some formal family pics and then continued with the regular “documentary” style shoot/video. Can we talk about how adorable it is that Mary Grace brings her little stuffed monkey everywhere? Melt my heart – those are some of my favorite images towards the end.
