Starbucks Iced Coffee

So about 4 weeks ago I decided, “Hmm.. I like coffee now.” And that was that.

Since then, I’ve had at least 1-2 cups-o-joe daily.  It’s amazing how your tastes evolve as you age. (Wow, I sound like I’m 79.) I was once told that your tastes change every 7 years. That means last year was a big year for me…. I learned to like different types of alcohol, coffee, (still don’t like beer-we’re working on that), fish (salmon is 1 of my favorite foods now), etc…

I remember when I was about 7 I used to hate french fries. I know, you’re thinking “What was wrong with you, child?!!” It’s true. Then 3 years later during a trip to the drive-through I spontaneously decided, “Yes, I will have some french fries”, and I liked them. Strange.  Needless to say, I’m not a huge fan of french fries in my current state of taste.

I’ve always disliked watermelon *bows head in embarassment.* I’ve tried EVERYTHING to like it.  Drenching it in salt, sugar, plugging my nose, playing “games” like seed-spitting, etc… Nothing has yet to solve this problem. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.  Maybe this is the year!? *Crosses fingers*

Now, for the funny photo(s) of the day…. please visit this HILARIOUS site. I’m a big fan of parodies- and this is a GOOD one. You know you’ve made fun of this particular situation before….we all have.

Don’t feel bad about not liking watermelon. I hear Pol Pot and Kruschev (and many other America haters) had a hard time with it.

I hate to say it, but your taste buds actually evolve every seven days. How do I know this? I wrote about it for a newspaper article and, of course, we had to double check the fact. I myself thought it was every seven years, but, alas, it is every seven days.

Hmm.. good to know.

This is how confused I was.

Have you ever taken a “cat nap” that turned into an extremely intense, what seems like 3 nights of sleep, but is really only an hour long nap, nap?

That’s what I felt like yesterday. I got home from work around 5:45 and walked straight into my room and curled up on my bed for a nap. I didn’t set an alarm (which is unlike me) because I decided I’d wake up to the next phone call I would get.  For some reason at 7:04 PM I go FLYING out of my bed in a giant sweating-panic! I run into the bathroom and realize I have very little time to get ready for work. I was debating on whether or not I could get away without showering. I figured I didn’t have any meetings, so I was good to go. Then I realize I’m in the same clothes I wore the day before…hmm.. that’s weird. Also, I couldn’t really remember what day it was supposed to be. Also weird and frustrating. So I go running out into my apartment living room in hopes of finding a roommate or something. Nothing. No one else is home- that’s strange, I didn’t think Mary was going to leave town until this weekend…

After a lot of looking around (for what, I’m not sure) I came to the realization that I had only been alseep for merely 1 hour. NOT a good feeling; very frustrating. Then I couldn’t help but break into laughter… and of course there was no one else there to laugh with me, which just made it even more awkward.

Needless to say, my confusing, frustrating, and panic-driven nap was a good one. I obviously needed it and even went to bed early after cleaning my entire apartment like a mad man. It was a great day.

Oh yes that HAS happened to me. Its weird because you wake up feeling better than you normally feel after waking up from 7 hours of sleep.

hahaha i love when you sit straight up in bed in the middle of night and your heart is pounding and you start looking around like you have something to do right away.. and then seconds later you realize that you probably look like a crackhead so you laugh (with no one) and lay back down. THAT’S a cool feeling..

Brian & the Snake

I arrived at Brian’s house the other night to go to dinner and he was dressed in boots and workout clothes with a hefty rake in hand. As you would guess, I was a bit confused… (Are we going to kill our dinner?)  Turns out that while he was cleaning the pool he discovered a giant snake. So, naturally he has to kill it. Boys will be boys. I like nature and getting my hands dirty, but I wasn’t really in the mood to kill any snakes… so I was “that girl” who sat next to the pool and chatted with his rommate, Eric, and then with my friend on my cell phone while cheering him on, of course.

We haven’t been able to identify the snake yet. Hope it wasn’t venemous! *crosses fingers*

However, once the snake was killed and hung on the mail box (jk…but we talked about it) we went to dinner at a great place, Obzeet. If you enjoy live music, a well ventilated patio with Christmas lights, and Hungarian accents- definately try it out if you’re in the area!

Dougie killed a water mocassin as tall as he is.
I had seen it under the dock and he finally found it. He had fun SHOOTING it.
Of course, we have pictures…gross!
Love,
Mom
