Emma | Newborn Lifestyle Portrait Session | Tigard, OR

These sisters were gifted an early Christmas present, a baby sister! Look at how beautiful these girls are with their porcelain skin, dark hair and blue eyes. Gonna be trouble for their Dad one day… that’s for sure!  🙂

I’m so glad to know this family. They are so beautiful inside and out and funny too! Yay, who doesn’t like funny people!? Anyway, I had a blast photographing their family at home… around the Christmas tree, playing on the piano together with Dad, and snuggling with Mom while she nursed new baby, Emma. Here are some of my favorites from Emma’s in-home lifestyle newborn portrait session. I support their choice to frame and enlarge the big one of the sisters lying on the ground real close to each other. 🙂

While I do think it’s important to capture some quasi-posed shots of the sweet new baby, it’s so important to capture the surrounding family in their element… deep in that season of life. It goes by in a flash! As much as us momma’s don’t want to be in front of the camera right after giving birth and trying to juggle taking care of a family, let alone yourself and a newborn, we never regret documenting these precious moments. When we reflect on these images, we won’t remember the extra weight we were carrying to sustain another life, we’ll remember how we felt seeing our kiddos snuggle together for the first or second time and the big kid(s) playing while we nuzzled our newborn.
