The Columbia River Gorge + Horsetail Falls // July 2016

We’ve taken Rara (my mom- short for Roxanne) all over the Portland area each time she visits. During her visit in July she requested to see a waterfall. I knew just the place! We took her to the Crownpoint look out in the Columbia River Gorge before heading to Horsetail Falls (further down the gorge). It’s one of those amazing (less crowded than Multnomah Falls) waterfalls that you don’t have to hike in order to enjoy it. You literally just park and walk across the parking lot to it. Though, there’s a trailhead just to the left of it that leads to some pretty awesome waterfalls and views of the Oneonta Gorge. After our waterfall adventure we took Rara for her first Pho experience in NE Portland. It was the shadiest and quasi dirtiest place, but I was holding out for the massive amount of positive Yelp reviews, which were right. It was delicious and we topped it off with an avocado (shake?) beverage.  Here’s some of my favorites from our day adventuring.  Isn’t God’s creation breathtaking?! What a gift that it’s less than an hour from our house!  I sure hope Brady remembers playing in waterfalls as a kid.

Here’s a quick video from our waterfall visit:
