Sushi & Redbean Ice Cream

Chris’ bday1

Tuesday was Chris’ (my coworker) birthday. Naturally, that meant we got to out to lunch. Woo-hoo! Since Chris (and the other 2 of us) are giant fans of sushi, we went to “Mr. Sushi” about 5 min from our office. It was my first time to visit Mr. Sushi. I’d say it was a pretty good first visit, considering that I probably disturbed all other guests’ lunch experience.

We spent the majority of lunch laughing/crying (b/c we were laughing so hard). We threw out a few spontaneous jokes, which I apparently thought was so funny that I spewed my green tea all over the bar. Smooth move, Lauren. I really just did it to make Sean and Chris feel better about themselves…haha.

Note to self: Don’t say things like “SICK!” when the waittress is explaining the type of ice cream (red bean) you are currently eating.

If you’re really into embarassing your friends for their birthday, Mr. Sushi is a great place. They not only sing to you with tamberine in-hand, but they also strike a gong a couple of times while serving you pink and green ice cream complete with a candle. Just when you think they’re done “performing”, they run back and strike the large gong a couple more times and then clap it out. Chris and I were excited for the green tea ice cream, but were confused as to what the mysterious pink ice cream was flavored. After tasting a few bites we consulted the waitress. As she’s telling us that it’s “red bean” flavored, Chris is gathering a small piece of something in his bowl and points to it, “Ohh, so that’s bean skin…ok.” My loudly unplanned response, “SICK!” seemed to surprise the waitress and Chris. Woops….thinking outloud again.
