One Republic Concert

Last night a couple of my girlfriends and I went to the One Republic concert at the House of Blues. We arrived early to stand in line to be admitted inside as usual until….. we were randomly selected by this guy to “follow him”. Of course my first thought was “Wow, this guy is so far gone…majorly high or drunk.. or both. Eh, what the heck, there’s a large crowd of folks witnessing this.” He proceeds to ask how many of us there are and grabbed the 2 super innocent girls behind us as well. We followed him to this “VIP” roped off area on the side of the House of Blues to the Foundation Room. We showed some lady our tickets, received VIP arm bracelets and proceeded into an elevator with “Dan” and some other couple. He kept giving us high-fives. Apparently he manages the Randy Rogers Band and has connections which got us VIP access for the night. Not a problem…

We get up to the Foundation Room, which was so nicely filled with comfy couches, nooks, bars, and beautiful lighting. We hung out up there and met some more people for about an hour and half before we finally proceeded down to the concert. So sometime after “Dan” got kicked out for peeing off the Foundation Room balcony… the girls and I found our comfy spot to watch the rest of the openers before One Republic came on. I can’t remember who the fist opening band was, but they were ok. The 2nd opener was Josh Kelley. Mmm… SO GOOD! (For those of you who keep up with celeb news, this is Katherine Heigl’s new hubby.) Some noted songs: Two Cups of Coffee, Amazing, Almost Honest. All of the band members looked very different from one another. The bass player was dressed like he fell out of an 80’s exercise video that took place on a sunny day, Josh Kelley looked the part of an attractive young blues rock singer, the pianist was dressed in casual t-shirt jeans with a strange cowboy hat, and the drummer was dressed in grunge. Very interesting/entertaining band I must say. Josh Kelley was very friendly and his music is upbeat and bluesy simultaneously…. has a good/catchy beat, calm and sexy.

Around 10 PM One Republic made their entrance. Wooo! Overall I must say they are a very talented group of guys. Each member seemed to play at least 2 instruments and vocals at some point during the concert. At times they would even exchange instruments with each other. My favorite by far was the cello. Mmmm… there is just something about the cello that makes me weak at the knees, especially when combined with piano/drums….maybe a little guitar and vocals… it just laces the song with beauty! To top it off, the piano was lined with candles. Very nice touch. Not to mention the lead singer Ryan has a very wide range of vocal talent, I was pretty impressed. We were hoping that Timbaland was going to make an entrance for the remix of “Too Late to Apologize”, but sadly he didn’t. They just sang their version, which was still good enough.
