Playing in the Snow on Mt. Hood at Timberline Lodge // January 2016

I am still amazed that we can drive 1.5 hours in either direction of Portland and arrive at either the beach or the snowy mountains. HOW AWESOME?!

We went up to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood to photograph our friend’s family in the snow. Amy was pregnant with their third child (she just had a boy!). I am so grateful I got to photograph & experience this with them.

Brian and Brady played in the snow for about an hour while I photographed the Patterson family. Then, the kiddos and Seth joined in to play in the snow while I photographed just Amy.  I wish I could have grabbed more photos of everyone playing in the snow, but I did got a few cute ones of Brady. 🙂

We retreated to the lodge once we were finished outside to enjoy the BEST hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life. I’m still dreaming about that beverage.  I brought along Brian and Brady so the kids could play (Brian LOVES snow). Turns out Brady loves snow, too. He’d experience it (kinda) in Dallas when it unexpectedly snowed each year of his life and twice the last month we before we put our house on the market last March (1 year ago!). We all had a blast! I’m so grateful for opportunities to get to do what I love while taking in God’s beautiful creation.

After warming up and resting a bit, we headed back towards Portland to scarf down one of the best burgers we’ve had at Calamity Jane’s. You’ll know the place when you go, because they have dollar bills taped over the entire ceiling. I could’t help but wonder how folks would judge me if I stood on the table to retrieve a few of those dollars.  Brian keeps talking about the burger & shake he got, because it was so good.

All in all, it was a really fun day filled with photography, fun, snow, good food, and fellowship with one of our new favorite families since we’ve moved to Portland. Here’s a little video & some photos from the day:
