Cheers to 2017 – We’re adding baby #2

We’re ringing in the New Year with a big blessing. The Lord has blessed us with ANOTHER miracle baby.  I just entered my second trimester, which puts baby due around July 7th, 2017 (but Brian’s reeeeallly hoping for a July 4th baby).

It’s kind of a cool redemption story. Rewind 6 years back to our initial vacation to Oregon during July 4th, 2011 (we still lived in Dallas, TX). I was hoping to discover I was pregnant during that trip (5 months after my miscarriage), but alas, I was not… which set us on a path of multiple doctor visits, etc… only to be told we’d need medical assistance due to male factor infertility to ever get pregnant. (Read more about our infertility experience here, here, and here.)  Fast forward 6 years later and we’ve been blessed naturally with Brady AND I’m set to have our second child (first Oregon baby!) almost exactly 6 years later to the day in the same place where I was hoping to receive good news. Crazy what can happen in 6 years… I never imagined we’d live here and that God’s sovereign timing would give us a redemption story with another child.  Prayers for a healthy pregnancy, delivery, and recovery are greatly appreciated. We heard baby’s heart beat at my last appointment, which has to be one of the most beautiful sounds.

Our savior brings glory from ashes.

2016 was a hard year, but of course not without it’s blessings and provisions.  Brian had several job changes (making 1/3 of his previous salary and no benefits) in the midst of going back to school to get his EMT license in order to pursue firefighting- which of course brought lots of uncertainty, but forced me to my knees into a deeper relationship with God; many trips back to Texas for photo shoots, opening my photography studio in January – which has been super great;  the ownership of our rental home changing basically overnight in February; a summer filled with family visiting and adventuring around Oregon (which I still have TONS of images/videos to share); Brady turning 4; Brian being rehired by Seadrill in October 2016 (!!) – which has our family back into our “normal” (yet crazy) groove of him working off shore in the Gulf of Mexico 3 weeks at a time.  It’s a crazy schedule, but it works for us. They say it takes a village, and this year has truly proven that and revealed how blessed we are by friends in our Portland community. I’m sure I’m leaving out a ton, but I’m excited to see what 2017 holds… especially since we’re adding another human to our family!
