“A DAY IN THE LIFE” photo session…. what is that really? Just what it sounds like! I photographed this family from sun up to sun down one Saturday. It is one of my favorite sessions to date. Sometimes it’s difficult to describe what a lifestyle documentary family session is so let’s just call it a “Day in The Life” storytelling session. You can learn more about these sessions here.
I mostly stay behind the scenes, but of course you’ll find me playing with the kiddos here and there. I also encourage families to just be themselves. Yes, please tidy up your house, but it doesn’t have to be magazine perfect. This session is to capture YOUR uniqueness. YOUR current stage of life. The little quirks your kiddos are deep in. Tantrums and tears. Your Saturday morning routine. Your favorite park down the street. The favorite cafe for lunch. Doing yard work together. Completing a puzzle together. Getting a hair cut. Washing the car (or dog). Reading books to your littles before bedtime. Whatever is unique to you. This is your story and I want to capture it!!
I find so much joy in capturing these things that are YOU. I didn’t once direct this family what to do. Nor did I turn on or change any of the lighting in the house. I just arrived as the kids were waking up and started shooting and didn’t stop until after dark (14 hours later). There is so much beauty to be captured in your story. I would be honored to be the one to document that. Please contact me if you’re interested: http://laurenallenphotography.com/contact
I really enjoy the Pittman family. They are beautiful, unique, gifted, artistic, musical, intelligent, etc… and I hope these images portray that. Their home is nestled in a small rainforest in the middle of Portland so, it’s its own oasis. I arrived just as everyone was waking and beginning their Saturday morning routine. They made biscuits, bacon, eggs, and fruit and enjoyed it in the beautiful Fall sunlight of their all green-house like awesome breakfast nook. Then, they slowly got dressed and the kiddos played before heading to Home Depot to select some new flowers to plant in their front yard. This is Part I of III blog posts… stay tuned for more. Enjoy!
