My goodness we’ve had a busy summer! I think we’ve been gone more than we have been home. It’s the first of September and I’m just not playing catch up with personal photo projects/summer photos. You turned 21 months at the end of July, 2014… right in the middle of our busiest time. We saw almost every side of the family!
Your grandma, Marilyn – “Me Me”, Duane, Aunt Leslie and cousin Alexis came over for a visit on July 4th. You had a little trouble sharing your toys with cousin Alexis, but you were very generous with your kisses! 😉 You’re still very vocal, but only I know what some of your words mean. Whenever we are in a conversation (in your own language), I will ask you a question and you take a long pause and respond, “Uhhh……” like you’re thinking about it. So funny! You like to play “go to work” with your straw hat, bag, and water cup. You give me a big smile and wave goodbye. Then, you leave the room and return and drop your things while coming in for a big welcome home hug – it’s adorable! You enjoy feeding George. You also pick up every last bit of kibble that dropped and put it in his bowl and pat him while he eats. Your most common word is “Yeah Yeah” while nodding your head. Sometimes it’s a question, other times it’s a statement.
In the middle of the month, we drove to Katy for a night and then drove to Gulf Shores, Alabama with Paw Paw Joel and family for nearly a week! It was a very nice vacation and we stayed in a beautiful house right on the beach. You loved it! Your favorite beach toy was a discarded/used plastic water bottle. It was nice for you to spend time with Sam and Lisa. You liked giving Sam tackle-hugs. Dad surprised us a half-day early from his hitch! Less than 2 days later we drove to Galveston, TX to visit with my maternal side of the family. It was a quick 2 day trip and I got really sick so we left ASAP. You did get to visit with most of my cousins for a half day at least. A few days after we got home I went on a girls trip to California and you stayed home with Dad for a few days. Y’all did all sorts of boy stuff. He got you a toy pistol and toy rifle so you could hep him shoot varmints (squirrels) in the backyard.
Your pantomime skills are out of this world. You seem to be quite successful at communicating without words still, so why hurry and talk? hah.. You seem a little bashful at trying to speak new words. You do try really hard sometimes and I can usually tell what you’re attempting, but we’ll keep trying. You created cute new signs for eating and drinking (exactly what you’d think they’d be) followed by “Yeah yeah?!”. I gave you yet another hair cut (but still left some curls!) Seems like you need a hair cut monthly these days!
We love you buddy!
Caution: MANY photos to follow…. sorry I’m not sorry.
