Christmas in Katy, TX 2013

Our trip to Katy for Christmas was good, except that Dougie was pretty sick and fading quickly. It’s hard for me to describe my emotions about it, because it was difficult to see.  It makes me a bit sad that we do not get to enjoy Christmas Eve with our church in Dallas since we’re almost always either traveling or in Katy at that point.  We spent Christmas eve at my Dad & Daria’s house celebrating with more international food (Brazilian, Middle Eastern, & American- a Turducken) food than we knew what to do with. We closed out the evening with a big White Elephant gift exchange (10+ adults + kids) which went well! Nothing too inappropriate and some legit presents made appearances. Of course Daria’s mom (lives in Brazil) received the pleather gloves I brought – haha. That’ll be real nice for their “winters” in Rio.

We spent Christmas morning at my mom and Dougie’s and then drove in to Houston for Christmas at Gammy’s house with some more family. My family always makes Christmas so special for us, but my mom definitely spoils us! We are so grateful for her thoughtfulness and generosity. We love you, Mom! After opening gifts we ate a big breakfast. We dressed Brady in his cute little red corduroy overalls Rara gave him to wear especially on Christmas at Gammy’s. I literally had to chase him around the yard to get a decent photo of him, but he was not interested – hah.

We brought the Pack’n’play bed to Gammy’s for Brady’s afternoon nap. Poor little guy woke up in the middle of his nap coughing with the thick yucky mucus. I sadly relished in the moment, because he let me hold him on my chest while we laid in a recliner cozied in a big blanket and he slept on my chest. For more than 20 minutes.  He hasn’t done that in ages. It’s so sad when they have coughs and colds under the age of 2, because aside from a humidifier and lots of fluids – there’s not much that we as parents can do. Although, it takes a lot to bring down his spirits and a cough didn’t really affect him – just when he was laying down sleeping, because of the drainage.

The day after Christmas Brady “picked” some lemons from Rara’s lemon tree/bush. It was overflowing with giant juicy lemons (close to a Meyer lemon I think). Then, Brady got to go on his first tractor ride with dad (Brian)! He LOVED it. I’ve been playing around with video lately and this is the first video I’ve put together/edited in probably over 8 years. Enjoy 😉

Absolutely precious! Such a lovely Christmas. I also have to admit that I love crisp photos and these are so sharp.
