So in my previous post I didn’t realize my weekend would be filled with building furniture. So much for “Relaxing”- hah. I say that like it wasn’t fun. It was fun. Just exhausting!!! As an early Valentines present, my mom gave me the greenlight to pick up some stuff to make a new desk. (Thanks mom!) I was NOT expecting that!!! 🙂 My previous desk and “storage” dresser did what it needed to for their time. But it just wasn’t cutting it. I needed SPACE to be organized.
Here’s what I got:
– Galant white right-corner table top
– Galant white file cabinet on wheels
– Summera drawer organizer
– 2 Stainless steel boxes (med & small)
– cord organizer
– and some other fun small gadgets…..
To put together the file cabineton wheels(3.5 hrs) + the desk legs, frame, and top (1 hr) took a total of= 5 ish hours. That doesn’t include moving old furniture out, cleaning, re-organizing, etc…. My body hurts like it’s never hurt before. I used/strained muscles I never knew I had. And this isn’t the first time I’ve constructed large IKEA furniture. (Half… ok 2/3 of my current residence is IKEA.) It sucks at the time, but it’s pretty funny that EVERY piece of IKEA furniture ( whether it’s a lamp, table, desk, etc..) it NEVEr fails that I put on at least ONE part backwards, wrong, upside down, etc.. The IKEA manuals are so cute & simple, but sometimes I need a couple words to clarify what the picture is illustrating. If you’ve built anything from IKEA, you know what I mean. But low and behold, it always seems to come out beautifully in the end (after removing the cattywhompas piece.) So here are some before and after photos… and then a slideshow of the whole thing! Enjoy! {There are still some finishing touches to be made.. but these are the “getting settled” images.}
