Reikyu Sushi

Reikyu Sushi is the best sushi I’ve had yet! My cousins and I went to dinner at Reikyu Saturday night, which is located in Mockingbird Station.

Dean and his friend knew one of the chefs (Mark), which was very convenient, because we practically ordered the whole menu, on top of having a few custom-made dishes. I’ve always been interested in sushi, but usually I have reservations about trying large amounts of raw fish, however, this time I held nothing back. I was trying new things left and right! You would have thought we had never eaten before. People were putting things on my plate and I didn’t ask questions, I just ate. There were so many dishes on our tables that I went to grab one plate that was apparently stacked on top of another plate that was chock-full of tempura shrimp and Dean nearly went crazy- “GUYS! LOOK! We forgot about these!!!” …as he quickly grabbed as many as he could stuff in his mouth. I suddenly had a flash back from the Goonies when the kids discover all the gold on a pirate ship. One of many funny moments of the evening.

I think my favorite dish was one of the vegetarian rolls, the avocado roll. MMmmm… I’m salivating just thinking about it. The roll consists of a pearly white seaweed outer layer packed with sticky rice and a nice center chunk of avocado…complimented with a sweet sunset-colored mango sauce drizzled across the dish. PERFECTION.

Also, I think there’s something in the raw fish or wasabi, because it seemed as if we had a a few drinks, when we all drank sodas and water. Strange, but interesting. We were laughing and having the best time while stuffing ourselves silly!

Nothing like a fantastic meal with great company!

MMMM, I think I’m still full from that meal. Those were hands down the best veggie rolls I’ve ever had. We were totally drunk but we can’t blame that entirely on the sushi / wasabi combos…Talking about the genius that is Maury Provich pretty much makes anyone intoxicated with glee. “Not one but THA-REE different guys.” Oh yeah and the crazy boy girl from you tube…omg I’m going to his website right now to see the crucified baby! *hands out* Bleeding!
