We had the (fun) privilege of taking care of our neighbor’s 2 dozen chickens for a week while she was out of town. If it were up to Brian, he’d still be over there looking after them daily. It was funny to observe how comfortable he became with the chickens throughout the week. At first he was hesitant to reach underneath them to retrieve eggs, but by the end of the week he was just sticking his hand underneath them as they squawked and did their chicken thing. Brian even let Brady carry an egg back with him each morning or evening and he’d proudly show me. Chickens are pretty darn funny… One in particular followed me around and go RIGHT up to my lens, as if looking inside of it – lol. SO great. They’re relatively easy to care for if you have a good set up and what’s better than fresh eggs?! We LOVE receiving our neighbor’s chicken eggs. Sometimes they’re so big the carton doesn’t close.
Of course I couldn’t resist photographing the funny and beautiful and weird chickens. The light was so amazing and golden. There was a good cloud cover, but the sun was also trying to shine through with such deep warm light. The big golden hen was my favorite.
