I’m playing catch up on personal photos and blog posts now that I’m on official “maternity leave/baby watch”.  In November (2016), about a month after I learned I was pregnant and Brian had just come home from a 3 week offshore hitch, we headed to our favorite beach spot for the day. It was one of those great spontaneous beautiful beach days. I’m SO grateful for the proximity we are to the gorgeous Oregon coast (1.5 hours).  We stopped at the cutest little bakery/coffee shop near Cannon Beach called Sea Level. I enjoyed a nice London Fog, Brian had a latte, and Brady a hot chocolate. We also all shared a big cookie with our picnic that we packed. Even though I was feeling a little yucky at times, it was a chilly beautiful beach day.  Once the sun started setting, I nestled up against a nice big piece of drift wood and covered myself in Brian’s jacket while I watched them play (and of course, took pictures.)

Back in August (2016) it was a PERFECT weather day so we dropped what we were doing and headed to the beach for the day. I am SO grateful we live a mere 1.5 hours from the Oregon Coast. What a treasure! We also found our new favorite beach just South of Cannon Beach, called Hug Point.  We recently visited this beach for a super quick sunset “couples” shoot when my step mom was visiting (she took pics of us).  We didn’t get to play much since the sun was quickly setting and the evening fog was rolling in as it got darker so, I made a mental note to head back there next beach trip.

I don’t want to take these days for granted when I can just drop what I’m doing and head to the beach with my sweet little adventure boy, Brady.  Pretty soon he’ll be in elementary school and we won’t have as many “free” days.  We explored beach caves, huge rocks, live things growing on the rocks, crab legs/claws, beach water falls, a couple little hidden oasis right on the beach. It’s incredible. We even tried to blow bubbles, which was a fail because of the wind, but made for some funny pictures. He loves to chase the water and be chased by the water. Too bad it’s pretty cold water… I honestly haven’t gone in past my hips.

Who wants to do a portrait session at this beach?! Email me Hello@LaurenAllenPhotography.com

Waaaay back in July when my Dad and family were visiting from Texas, we took a day trip out to Cannon Beach. On the WINDIEST day. It was quite chilly and windy, but the sun was out so, it was pretty.  Sitting here on this chilly, rainy, November day makes me crave a good sunny beach day. It was fun, but I feel bad that was their exposure to the beach. We also ventured down to Hug Point later that evening for my step mom to take some photos of Brian and me at sunset and THAT is our new favorite beach. We’ve only returned to Hug Point when we want a beach day since. It’s incredibly beautiful and way less crowded. There’s also caves and nooks you can sit in to block the wind if necessary. Anyway, Sam and Lisa had a blast digging a huge hole and Brady got to fly a kite for the first time. We had dinner at a cute and delicious local brewery before continuing on to Hug Point (stay tuned for those gorgeous images in a separate blog post – there’s just a couple at the bottom of this post).

I put together a little video of our beach adventures and below are some of my favorite images from the day…. Funny that that the song is about Tennessee, but just pretend it says “Oregon” ;).
