So much wedding on the brain lately. I’ve been emerged in wedding planning lately, and it’s very easy to get caught up in the minutia of details, when in reality I’m probably not going to notice these things on the day of the wedding. (Although, I want my guests to enjoy all the personal touches, even if I can’t!)

Anyway, while Brian and I plan for our future together, it’s also very easy to slip into the trance of caring too much about worldly things, but what it all boils down to is our love for each other and the Lord. We must not forget the importance of loving each other and doing the cute little things that display our affection, because in the end- that’s all that matters and will get us through this life together.

I’m a big fan of Ingrid Michaelson’s music (gosh she’s talented) and this song is so cute and kinda reflects my thoughts about not worrying too much and just loving on one another and balancing each other in times of need. This song also reminds me of our relationship for a number of reasons. (It reminds me of a little poem/song you’d write in elementary to your boyfriend.)

.:: Ingrid Michaelson “You and I’ ::.

don’t you worry, there my honey
we might not have any money
but we’ve got our love to pay the bills

maybe I think you’re cute and funny,
maybe I wanna do what bunnies do with you,
if you know what I mean

Oh, let’s get rich and buy our parents homes in the South of France
let’s get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
and teach them how to dance
let’s get rich and build our house on a mountain
making everybody look like ants
from way up there, you and I, you and I, you and I,

well you might be a bit confused
and you might be a little bit bruised
but baby how we spoon like no one else
so I will help you read those books
if you will soothe my worried looks
and we will put the lonesome on the shelf

oh let’s get rich and buy our parents homes in the South of France
let’s get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
and teach them how to dance
let’s get rich and build our house on a mountain
making everybody look like ants
from way up there you and I, you and I, you and I

oh, let’s get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
let’s get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
and teach them how to dance
let’s get rich and build our house on a mountain
making everybody look like ants
from way up there you and I, you and I, you and I

GREAT post, Lauren. Settle into planning your wedding in a way that is comfortable for you and your relationship. And as long as you keep your heart prepared for the greatness that comes in the days after the wedding, you are on the right track! :)

I’ve heard this song several times on the radio and recently heard an interview with Britt Nicole discussing this song she wrote, “The Lost Get Found.” Her story that triggered her to write this song was very similar to mine and I’m sure many of yours.  Do you ever get that feeling (as if God is trying to signal to you) that you should go talk to a particular person/stranger in public?  I get that a lot and I pass it up because I let “fear of man” invade my thinking and before you know it, my opportunity to make conversation or help out a stranger has passed.  This song describes why we shouldn’t let those situations pass, but that we should do everything that we can to let our light shine, and possibly make what seems to us like a tiny difference to what may seem as a huge difference in someone else’s day.   I like how Britt’s lyrics mention: ” Don’t let your fire burn out ‘Cause somewhere, somebody needs a reason to believe…..Why don’t you rise up now?……Don’t be afraid to stand out……That’s how the lost get found”

This is SO true. It’s becoming more and more rare that people LOVE at all times these days. Of course your close friends may display love to you, but how often does a complete stranger help you out or show love to you?  This is just one of many reasons Christianity gets a bad rep. We compartmentalize our LOVE for others/the world when it’s convenient to us. We shouldn’t bottle this up, we shouldn’t be afraid to share it with others.

Here are the lyrics to the entire song “The Lost Get Found“  -Enjoy.

Hello my friend
I remember when you were
So alive with your wide eyes
Then the light that you had in your heart was stolen
Now you say that it ain’t worth stayin’
You wanna run but you’re hesitatin’
I’m talkin’ to me

Don’t let your lights go down
Don’t let your fire burn out
‘Cause somewhere, somebody needs a reason to believe
Why don’t you rise up now?
Don’t be afraid to stand out
That’s how the lost get found
The lost get found

So when you get the chance
Are you gonna take it?
There’s a really big world at your fingertips
And you know you have the chance to change it
There’s a girl on the streets, she’s cryin’
There’s a man whose faith is dyin’
Love is calling you

Don’t let your lights go down
Don’t let your fire burn out
‘Cause somewhere, somebody needs a reason to believe
Why don’t you rise up now?
Don’t be afraid to stand out
That’s how the lost get found
The lost get found

Why do we go with the flow
Or take an easier road?
Why are we playin’ it safe?
Love came to show us the way
Love is a chance we should take
I’m movin’ out of the way

Don’t let your lights go down
Don’t let your fire burn out
‘Cause somewhere, somebody needs a reason to believe
(Stand out)
Don’t let your lights go down
Don’t let your fire burn out
(Stand out)
‘Cause somewhere, somebody needs a reason to believe
Why don’t you rise up now?
Don’t be afraid to stand out
That’s how the lost get found
The lost get found

So when you get the chance
Are you gonna take it?
There’s a really big world at your fingertips
And you know you have the chance to change it

I built this hardbound book of all our photos since we started dating a year and a half ago (Aug. 2007- now (Dec. 08)) for Brian as one of his Christmas presents. The book came out nicely, and I like how you can share it online and build it online, not on your own hard drive. (But of course, you can download it to your hard drive if you desire.)  Check out www.Scrapblog.com – it’s great! You can print other items from scrapblog.com like wedding announcements, photos, cards, books, etc…They processed and shipped the book pretty quickly.  If you’ve ever printed an iBook from iPhoto before it’s pretty similar, but includes many more options.

Enjoy!
