Archive for June, 2012
Last weekend I had the honor of photographing Lizzie and Jay’s wedding here in Dallas, TX at the HPUMC SMU Cox Chapel. She was quite a beautiful bride and so relaxed. They each have adorable children (she has 3 little boys, and he has a boy and a girl) and together they are making a decent sized beautiful family! Here’s a sneak peek of pretty Lizzie.
This past week has been pretty good. I just hit week 23 of my pregnancy! I can’t believe I’m over half-way through my pregnancy already. Oh, how time flies. Little Brady has been moving like crazy the past couple of days and Brian is able to feel a lot of his movements with his hand on my tummy. I don’t think it will ever get “old”. Each little movement I feel is like a littler reminder of how much of a blessing this is.
The weather has already hit the low 100′s. And it’s only June. Bah! So, that means I’ve spent more time inside than usual during any free time I get. Planning a nursery. I’m not usually overly obsessed with decorating. I just obsess over paint colors and then the rest just falls into place. However, with the nursery I’ve been a little overly excited/obsessed with this “nesting” phase. Maybe that’s normal? It’s probably since we’re starting from scratch with the room. We’ve almost completely cleared out the room (and one of the 2 closets), so we’re getting close.
This weekend my dad, Daria, and the kids came up for a day to visit. It was quite nice to have them in our home (it was their first time here). We hung out, picked out paint color samples for the nursery, grilled some yummy steaks, and went for a walk at the lake. It was lots of fun but kind of a whirlwind since it was such a short visit. We love having family in our home, it’s such a blessing.
Anyway, you’ll see where I tested some paint samples on the wall of our nursery below (yes that’s two closet doors). Every bedroom in our house has 2 closets. It’s amazing how the little sample looks so white in-store and then you paint it on the wall and bam – it’s a way different color than expected. I am going for something very light-neutral. Something a tad darker than the white we currently have on the walls, that will also look good against the bright white trim and will last a few years when Brady’s a toddler. I wanted something that would go with gray and earthy neutrals, but we already have 2 grey rooms in our house so I nixed that for the nursery.
I’ll post a “before” and “after” photo of the nursery once all is done!

HOW FAR ALONG? 22 weeks…. only 18 ish weeks left.
SIZE OF OUR SWEET BABY? The size of a SPAGHETTI SQUASH head to rump (11 inches; 1 lb.)
MATERNITY CLOTHES? Yep. Except for in the above photo…one of about 3 “normal” dresses that still fit.
SLEEP? A friend lent me a big wedge pillow, thankfully. I use it to pile on more pillows and prop up for the majority of the night. It probably helps prevent heart burn too?
FOOD CRAVINGS? Nothing too strong this week… Probably splurging on more dessert than “necessary”.
WHAT I MISS? Being able to bend over and pick up stuff easily or reach my feet easily. It’s still possible, just a bit more interesting.
SYMPTOMS? Swollen feet for SURE.
BELLY BUTTON? It’s still an “inny” but it’s stretching and getting bigger.
BEST MOMENT(S) OF THE PAST WEEK? Ok I have a few.
1. Feeling little Brady move around. It’s so neat and also reassuring.
2. Some friends have given us a nice changing table, and an (awesome!) elephant lamp, and a few other small goodies for the nursery. It makes me smile when I pass by and see them. We haven’t started decorated the nursery so, it’s all just piled in the guest bedroom for now, but it makes me so excited.
3. Brian’s mom gave us a bag of “goodies” from Brian’s baby/child hood. There were some adorable preppy little baby jumpers and baby shoes, a baby book with some neat memories documented, etc… but the BEST was THIS photo of Brian and his ONE giant tooth. I literally laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe and was crying. Apparently the dentist pulled one tooth and it took several years to grow back. HAH…. a little glimpse into our future…
And here’s an adorable old baby Cowboys sweatshirt Brian will probably dress little Brady in every day he possibly can.
